Manchester United welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford in the final game on Boxing Day, exclusively live on talkSPORT.
The Red Devils have endured a poor campaign in all competitions and they will be desperate to end 2023 with something after slipping to a miserable 2-0 defeat to West Ham before Christmas.
Erik ten Hag’s side host Villa before travelling to take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with six points crucial to finish the year on a high.
But beating Unai Emery’s men will prove to be a tough task as they sit inside the Premier League’s top four and well in the title race this season.
In English league history, Man United and Aston Villa are the two sides who have the most wins on Boxing Day with 53 and 46 victories respectively.
The Red Devils have not lost in their last 19 fixtures on the day, winning 16 and drawing three since a 3-0 loss to Liverpool in 1978/79.
In fact, they hold the record for the most such wins in the top-flight (44) and Premier League (21).
Ten Hag will be desperate to keep up this incredible run and bring some positivity back to Old Trafford after a torrid campaign at home.
And they will be encouraged by the fact that Villa are coming off the back of two consecutive losses on Boxing Day, losing to Chelsea and Liverpool in the last two seasons.
It, of course, won’t be an easy task though as Emery’s side continue to compete alongside the ‘Big Six’ as part of the title race.
Diogo Dalot will return from his suspension served against West Ham in what will be a big boost to United’s defence.
However, the Red Devils’ injury list remains long heading towards the new year.
Victor Lindelof, Mason Mount, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Harry Maguire and Tyrell Malacia will all remain out of action
