Primark has brought back its £7 sandals that look very similar to ones sold by an expensive designer brand.
The shoes first arrived in stores last summer, but are now back in new colours. Primark has become known for its cheaper alternatives in recent years, often selling its own brand versions of high-end products for much less.
Now, the retailer is selling sandals that are very similar to ones sold by fashion brand Hermes, which are priced at £570 online. Primark’s sandals feature a 'near identical' design to Hermes’ Oran Sandals.
The bargain retailer’s sandals are available in similar colours and include the same ‘H’ shape at the front. Primark’s shoes are priced at £7, while Hermes’ version would set shoppers back £570. This means shoppers could save around £563 by opting for the dupe.
TikToker Highstreetfinds shared a video of the sandals online, showcasing them in brown, black, white and denim. The video garnered 1.4m views and many comments from shoppers keen to snap up the sandals. Beneath the post, one person said: “need them in every colour” and a second wrote: “Beautiful.” A third added: “This makes me sooo excited for summer.”
A fourth tagged a friend and said: “Need to go and buy 15 pairs of the brown ones!!” Another added: “These are actually quite comfy I got a few colours last year.”
However, some shoppers were put off by how early in the year sandals were arriving in stores, while others wanted the shoes to be available in wide fit. One person said: “Does anybody know what the wide feet selection is like this year?” and a second wrote: “It’s January.”
Another added: “Are we skipping Spring now completely?” A fourth said: “It really infuriates me that they’re selling these when it’s literally -2°.”
