Marc Cucurella was evidently still feeling the affects of his surgery while trying to watch Chelsea's win over Sheffield United from his hospital bed.
The Blues defender was substituted late on in their 2-0 defeat against Everton last weekend and the club said he would be assessed.
Chelsea's injury update on Friday stated that Cucurella would meet with foot and ankle specialists to determine the next steps to take.
It seems as though a decision was made quickly though as he took to Instagram to reveal he had had surgery.
«Time to come back stronger..» he said in his caption, with reports hinting that he could be out until February whilst he recovers.
Despite just being in the operating theatre, Cucurella still the time to watch his teammates in action on Saturday afternoon on his phone.
However, it seems as though he didn't quite have the energy to watch it all as his partner Claudia Rodriguez posted a picture of him sleeping through it.
Cucurella's setback will undoubtedly be frustrating for him having become regular feature in the Chelsea starting XI this season.
The Spaniard has played at both left and right-back under Mauricio Pochettino, making 12 appearances across all competitions.
He has cut a much improved figure compared to last season although the former Brighton man will have to wait a while for his next match.
However, Cucurella's injury is just the latest in the never-ending list of absences at Chelsea.
Levi Colwill played at left-back against Sheffield United and kept a clean sheet in their sixth Premier League win this season.
Cole Palmer opened the scoring for the Blues before assisting Nicolas Jackson for the second in what was a comfortable victory.
The win was just their fifth in the league at Stamford Bridge
