Having been rested, at least partially, in midweek against Villarreal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to return to the starting XI as they travel to face Stade Rennais on Sunday afternoon.
Aubameyang was one of the players rested in midweek. With Olympique de Marseille’s spot in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals seemingly sealed after a 4-0 first-leg victory at the Vélodrome, their huge lead just needed to be managed. Whilst Les Phocéens just about secured their qualification, Aubameyang, who Jean-Louis Gasset would have wanted to give a bigger rest, was forced to come off the bench at half-time. The Gabonese forward set up Jonathan Clauss’ goal in the dying minutes, which ultimately killed the tie.
However, Aubameyang is expected to start once again on Sunday. Elsewhere, Samuel Gigot, Michael Murillo, Bilal Nadir, Jean Onana and Valentin Rongier all remain sidelined with injuries.
