Mauricio Pochettino is guaranteed to make at least one Chelsea change for Everton clash

Chelsea have eight games remaining of their Premier League season but for a lot of supporters, they just want this campaign to be over. It is difficult to single out the 'biggest low' in a season rammed with them, but the draw at Sheffield United on Sunday felt like it was right up there.

It is not even that the Blues deserved to win, or they were unfortunate. If any team deserved the three points, it was the Blades, who have won just three matches all season-long. Mauricio Pochettino thought it was a “fair result” – which it may well have been but that is not what Chelsea supporters wanted to hear.

After a game like that, though, there are not too many things Pochettino could have said to get in their good books. After a step forward on Thursday evening, it was another two back for the Blues, whose European ambitions took a big dent with the draw at Bramall Lane.

Pochettino opted with a slightly different setup in Yorkshire and when asked after the game whether that was to combat what the hosts did, he dismissed that idea and said it was instead to try and find a way for Chelsea to defend in a more solid fashion. «It's adapting in a different way,» Pochettino said post-match.

«We played against Brentford with a different system, a different formation with and without the ball because of the circumstances of the players we have fit. Yes, we are trying to find solutions but in the end, for different circumstances, also because of the situation is not easy to be solid.

»I am not saying we changed because of Sheffield. We are trying to find solutions to be solid and to not concede too much as we have been."
