Neal Maupay has all the attributes to be the perfect Everton nark. But while through no little effort, or goalscoring opportunities, his time at Goodison Park has not worked out. That's why it came as little surprise when he was sent back on loan to former club Brentford before the summer transfer window closed.
The move has worked out well. Maupay's goal to put Brentford ahead in Monday's home clash with Manchester City, who went on win 3-1 thanks to a Phil Foden hat-trick, was his fifth in as many matches and his seventh of what is turning into to be a highly productive campaign. Last season, the 27-year-old managed to score just one goal in 29 appearances for Everton before missing a glut of chances in the 1-0 home loss to Fulham on the opening day of the current campaign.
But it was Maupay's previous goal for the Bees, in their 3-2 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, that demonstrated why Maupay remains one of the Premier League's biggest wind-up merchants. After firing Brentford into a 15th-minute lead, the Frenchman celebrated by mimicking Tottenham playmaker James Maddison's famous darts celebration.

Maddison and his Spurs team-mates did not take too kindly to that and, after on-pitch words, the spat continued on social media after the match. And now West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has had his say on Maupay, claiming that while he 'rates' his fellow forward's antics, it could end up with the Everton loanee getting 'beaten up'.
“Maupay is known to be a bit of a wind-up," said Antonio, speaking on the Footballer's Football Podcast alongside Fulham
