Mike Dean slams Premier League referee for 'bang out of order' behaviour during Crystal Palace game
Premier League referee Sunny Singh Gill signed autographs at half-time in the match between Crystal Palace and Luton, andMike Dean was not happy about it.
Singh Gill made history on Saturday as the first British South Asian to be the main referee in a Premier League match. He was in charge when Crystal Palace played Luton at Selhurst Park, and the match ended 1-1.
The game finished with excitement when Cauley Woodrow scored in the 96th minute, making it a draw for Luton, who are trying not to get relegated.
Singh Gill signed autographs for fans at half-time but Dean, who used to be aPremier League referee himself, said that what Gill did was «bang out of order» on Soccer Saturday.
Gill, who also works part-time as a prison officer, recently expressed how his role could inspire Asian children wanting to follow in his path.
He stated in an interview with the Premier League website: «You want the younger generation to look at you and think: 'I can also do it. If parents are looking at us thinking: 'Wow, we have Asian kids in the Premier League officiating games, my son can give that a go, my daughter can give that a go.'»
