Mike Maignan (28) was absent from France training on Tuesday as Les Bleus prepare for friendlies against Germany and Chile.
Despite injury concerns surrounding Lucas Hernandez, Ibrahima Konaté and Ousmane Dembélé, all three trained at Clairefontaine, however, Maignan was absent. The AC Milan goalkeeper had a “little concern” towards the end of a 3-1 victory over Hellas Verona on Sunday, according to Didier Deschamps and the evolution of this niggle is being closely evaluated by France’s medical staff.
As a result, no risks were taken with the former Lille OSC shot-stopper, with Maignan missing Tuesday’s first-team session. He may now be in a race to be fit to face Germany on Saturday, with Les Bleus’ other match coming against Chile on Tuesday in what is the last international break before this summer’s Euros.
In the event that Maignan is rested, the hierarchy has been clearly delineated. RC Lens’ Brice Samba is France’s No.2 choice, whilst West Ham United’s Alphonse Areola is the No.3.
