Arsenal and Manchester United could be set for a transfer tussle over Columbus Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte. This comes as Aaron Ramsdale begins to consider his future at the Emirates Stadium.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper, who only signed a new contract last summer, has found himself on the bench since David Raya arrived and became Mikel Arteta's first-choice shot-stopper. Ramsdale had previously expressed his wish to stay put in north London, but it seems he might be ready for a change after being relegated to a backup role.
According to the Daily Mail, Ramsdale is weighing up his options and preparing to leave north London this summer. The report states that Newcastle United are interested in Ramsdale too – especially as their manager Eddie Howe knows Ramsdale from their time together at Bournemouth.
The Magpies currently have Martin Dubravka as their main goalkeeper, with Nick Pope expected to return from a shoulder injury at the end of April. However, both players are over 30 and Newcastle are reportedly keen to bring in a younger player for the long term, reports the Express.
The report suggests that if Arsenal move for Ramsdale, they might also show more interest in Schulte. He's been on Arsenal's radar since he was picked in the MLS draft two years ago.
His game has improved a lot recently and he earned his first cap for the USA in January. But Arsenal aren't the only ones watching him — United are also keeping tabs on him.
