Mikel Arteta has eight players on his radar during the international break as Arsenal plan clear
Like every other Premier League manager, Mikel Arteta will be hoping that his players return from the international break fully fit. Arsenal already have a handful of big names nursing injuries and, as the Gunners look to finally get their hands on the Premier League title this term, they need all hands on deck.
Following an exhilarating win over Manchester United, Arteta has two weeks to prepare for a fiery affair against Everton at Goodison Park. The 41-year-old will be working closely with those who have not been called up by their country, so they have to chance to impress.
Those that are away from London Colney have just as much of a chance to force themselves into the Arsenal starting lineup by impressing for their country. The international break is a great opportunity to pick up some much-needed form, and there will certainly be a few players on his radar.
With that being said, football.london has taken a look at the seven players who have a point to prove over the next two weeks – regardless of whether they're serving their country or under Arteta's stewardship at London Colney.
David Raya
Raya has been called up to the Spain squad ahead of two crucial European qualifiers against Georiga and Cyprus. While the 27-year-old will likely play second fiddle to Unai Simon, he'll be hoping for an opportunity to stay sharp and impress Arteta – especially with Aaron Ramsdale expected to deputise Jordan Pickford for England.
Gabriel Magalhaes
In one respect, Gabriel has absolutely nothing to prove; last season, he was arguably one of the best centre-backs in the country. However, this term, Arteta has tried to steer clear of him so he'll be desperate to show the Spaniard what he can do for Brazil in the coming days.
