Arsenal teammates Oleksandr Zinchenko and Declan Rice face each other during the international break as England take on Ukraine in the European Championship 2024 qualifiers. The Ukraine international plays in a more advanced role for his nation — as opposed to his role as left-back for the Gunners.
Rice completed a £105million move to the Emirates Stadium from West Ham during the summer transfer window to join Zinchenko in Mikel Arteta's squad. The England international scored his first goal for the Gunners in a 3-1 win against Manchester United before the international break — cementing himself as a fan-favourite with the Arsenal supporters.
Zinchenko has struggled with injury at the start of the 2023/24 campaign but now looks ready to contribute consistently after proving his fitness. The Ukraine international will definitely be sharing a joke with Rice after England's match against Ukraine this afternoon after Zinchenko scored the opening goal of the game.
The 26-year-old burst into the penalty area and peeled off the back of Rice to slot the ball into the back of the England net to make it 1-0 in the first half. Zinchenko celebrated by waving to the cameras with many Ukraine fans showing their emotions after his brilliant strike.
Rice was left questioning how Zinchenko has so much room in the box with ex-Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson leading the inquests after the Three Lions' conceded. Kyle Walker has since equalised for Gareth Southgate's side, but Zinchenko is impressing in a more advanced role for Ukraine.
