Another Arsenal matchday and another 90 minutes on the bench for Aaron Ramsdale. Mikel Arteta continued to stick with David Raya in Sunday's win over Brighton & Hove Albion as the Spaniard recorded his fifth Premier League clean sheet.
The decision to leave Ramsdale has only added more uncertainty over his future in north London. With the January transfer window approaching, it's expected that the goalkeeper will be highly sought after.
One club that has been reportedly tracking his situation is Chelsea. Robert Sanchez's difficult start to life in west London had led to speculation that Mauricio Pochettino wanted another goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard is now ruled out with injury leaving Djordje Petrovic as the only senior shot-stopper available. However, the Blues are set to give the summer signing a run in the team before making a move for a new goalkeeper, according to the Evening Standard.
What has Mikel Arteta said on Ramsdale?
Speaking prior to the 4-3 win over Luton Town, a game in which Raya let in three soft goals, Arteta said: «I want Aaron with us. I am very happy to have two very, very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us.
»We want to be better, so we want to add to what we already have. That's the intention we have."
How likely is Ramsdale to leave Arsenal?
Right now, it's unclear. Arteta's persistent mindset of wanting two goalkeepers means it's unlikely that he will be allowed to leave in January with only Karl Hein as back-up to Raya.
But, as ever, money talks and if someone like Chelsea or Newcastle come in for him with a bid worth £50million, he could be allowed to leave.
