Moises Caicedo appears to escape punishment despite Craig Pawson showing yellow card vs Brighton
In what was one of the most dramatic games of the season on Sunday afternoon, Chelsea beat Brighton 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.
The match had everything — goals, controversy, VAR checks and plenty of bookings for match referee Craig Pawson to deal with. The experienced official dished out 11 cards during the match, with two being shown to Blues midfielder Conor Gallagher who was sent off during the first half.
Jack Hinshelwood, Igor Julio, Pascal Gross and Joao Pedro were all cautioned for Brighton, but it was a booking for Chelsea's Moises Caicedo that had several eyebrows raised at the Bridge and beyond.
The £115million signing, starting for the first time against his former club in the Premier League, was seen to have been shown a yellow card by Pawson early on in the second half for a foul on Evan Ferguson. However, no record of the offence was noted on the official Premier League website.
The Premier League's commentary of the game has noted the foul by Caicedo but not the booking. There is however a yellow card correctly awarded to Benoit Badaishile, who was booked moments after the Caicedo incident for kicking the ball away.
Caicedo had previously picked up three yellow cards in the Premier League before Sunday's game, meaning he would now be one booking away from a suspension if the caution was awarded.

When approached for comment, the Premier League confirmed that no yellow card had been shown to Caicedo, and that instead, the booking was only for Badiashile after he had delayed the restart of the game following Caicedo's foul.
