Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has posted a cryptic message online after missing the 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday with an injury. After a run of four starts in a row in all competitions and five in six for his club after the September international break, the latest setback has come as a big blow.
Mudryk had started to hit his best form since arriving at the club but suffered a small knock at the start of October in the win over Fulham, a game that finally saw his first goal for the club. That niggle then saw him drop to the bench against Burnley before he was in the starting line-up again against Arsenal.
The run of games brought the best out of him in a Chelsea shirt after a slow start to life in London but was once more halted at a key time with Mauricio Pochettino confirming ahead of the game against the Bees that he wasn't fit enough to play. «Yesterday, both Enzo [Fernandez] and [Mykhailo] Mudryk felt a small muscle issue but hopefully for the next game [Blackburn], they'll be available,» the boss said before kick-off.
«Misha (Mudryk) as well, we’ll miss both but we have a big squad and we’ll find the solutions.» Noni Madueke got the nod in the side with Raheem Sterling shifted to the left once more but neither were able to help the team to a fifth straight unbeaten match after goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo.
It is another home tie next up for the Blues as well with the visit of mid-table Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. That is the last chance for the team to get themselves ready ahead of a tough run of games including Tottenham on Monday, November 6 as well as Manchester City, Brighton, Newcastle and Manchester United all to come in the next six weeks.
