Former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke has suggested that there could be speculation surrounding Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale joining the Red Devils, but has questioned the future of Andre Onana as a result. It comes as both clubs have unique goalkeeping issues facing them.
For the Gunners,Mikel Arteta is facing constant questions over his first-choice goalkeeping options, following the signing of David Raya from Brentford in the summer. The Spaniard has joined the club to bring competition to the position, seemingly earning the first-team shirt for now.
That's despite Ramsdale's impressive performances since making the switch from Sheffield United, having been the secure first-choice for a few seasons now. The challenge of Raya has pushed the Englishman towards the bench, with many wondering if the two goalkeepers can be content with sharing playing time or receiving less than the other.
Ramsdale was recently asked about whether the lack of playing time leaves him worried for a place in the England squad, telling the Daily Mail: «Yes, of course, it is the first time I have found myself in this situation. The manager here [Gareth Southgate] is brilliant, he trusts the players he's worked with before as we've seen in different types of ways — you'll see Kalvin [Phillips] and Harry [Maguire] haven’t played the most amount of minutes but when they step up for England and are given the opportunity, they perform.
