Rangers fans warned over 'serious concerns' for Benfica entry as UEFA act amid 'aggressive' security claim

Rangers fans have been told there are “serious concerns” over gaining entry to the Estadio da Luz with some “extremely aggressive searches” ahead of their Europa League last-16 first leg tie against Benfica in Lisbon.

And UEFA have taken the unusual step of appointing two security delegates for the showdown, for which A travelling support of 3250 have officially made the trip to Lisbon, with Ibrox chiefs said to be working with European football’s governing body and the Football Supporters Europe group.

Supporters of French side Toulouse complained on social media of heavy handedness when they visited the iconic arena in the last round. And the Rangers blog 4ladshadadream took to social media platform X to share information, saying: “Club are working with UEFA and FSE as there have been serious concerns raised with entry to the stadium previously with some extremely aggressive searches. UEFA have appointed two security delegates for this which is very uncommon so shows how serious it’s being taken.”
