The 21-year-old, who has 13 goals to his name at club level this term, was expected to again lead the Man United line in Saturday's Premier League clash with Fulham.
However, Man United said in a statement on Friday afternoon that the forward had suffered a muscular injury which will keep him out of action for the next «two to three weeks».
«Rasmus Hojlund will miss Manchester United's Premier League game against Fulham on Saturday due to a muscle injury. It is expected to keep him out for two to three weeks,» read a statement on the club's official website.
Should Hojlund be missing for three weeks, he would be absent for the FA Cup fifth-round clash with Nottingham Forest on February 28, in addition to Premier League games with Fulham, Manchester City, Everton and Sheffield United.
However, the fixture with Sheffield United in the middle of March will be rescheduled if Man United advance to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
Anthony Martial has not played since the start of December and will not be available until at least the end of March, meaning that Man United currently have no recognised centre-forward.
