Real Madrid have delivered a downbeat injury update on Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham was forced out of Madrid's 4-0 victory against Girona on Saturday, having scored their second and third.
He was then pictured with an ice pack on his ankle for the remainder of the match.
Giving an update, Madrid said: «After the tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services, our player Jude Bellingham has been diagnosed with a high-grade sprain in his left ankle.»
It has been reported that he is facing around three weeks out with the injury.
This means he will certainly miss Madrid's Champions League clash with RB Leipzig on Tuesday, and could be a doubt for the return leg in March.
Bellingham could also miss LaLiga clashes Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla, and Valencia.
The 20-year-old has now scored 16 LaLiga goals this season, move than any other Real Madrid midfielder has managed in the 21st century.
Speaking after the game, manager Carlo Ancelotti compared him Zinedine Zidane said: «They are similar. They have unbelievable quality.
»Zidane was excellent technically, Bellingham is incredible at arriving at the box. His movement in the first goal, very few can do that."
Real Madrid are currently five points clear at the top of LaLiga.
