Jamie Redknapp insisted Marcus Rashford's current form at Manchester United is heartbreaking to watch.
After enjoying the most prolific campaign of his career to date last season, the 26-year-old has struggled to reach the same levels this term.
Rashford's inconsistencies on the pitch have been further blighted by issues away from football, including an incident involving a missed training session stemming from a night drinking in Belfast in the build up to an FA Cup clash in January.
Despite netting in his previous two Premier League appearances, Rashford produced a listless display in United's draw with Brentford on Saturday, registering just a single shot on goal before being replaced by Mason Mount.
At half-time in that game Redknapp criticised Rashford for lacking effort, and speaking following the result the pundit questioned why it appears he is not reaching his potential.
'Marcus Rashford is a player with so much talent,' Redknapp said.
'God given talent, he's got everything. He's got an incredible physique, he can run, he can dribble, he can shoot, he got 30 goals last year.
'I look at a player right now. I think he's an eight goals, seven in the Premier League, and one in the in the FA Cup.
'He's just looks like he's not enjoying his football. And for me, it's quite heartbreaking because he's got so much talent, I just want to see more.'
Dion Dublin agreed with Redknapp's assessment of Rashford's recent showings on the pitch and added that he hopes the England international can return to his best.
'I want to see him smile. You know, we know Marcus Rashford is possibly the best player they have in regards to natural talent.' He said.
