Referee Simon Hooper has been left off the refereeing rota for this coming weekend's Premier League fixtures after failing to give Wolves a penalty in Monday night's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.
The Black Country outfit, who squandered a whole host of chances to take something from the contest at Old Trafford, were adamant that they should have been awarded a penalty deep into second-half injury time when Andre Onana clattered into substitute Sasa Kalajdzic.
Hooper failed to award a spot-kick and Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Michael Salisbury felt the decision was not a clear and obvious error, leaving Wolves manager Gary O'Neil apoplectic on the touchline. The Wolves chief accused Onana, who was making his United debut, of taking Kalajdzic's "head off".
O'Neil admitted in his post-match press conference that he and Wolves had received an apology from Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), who said that the incident was checked and not deemed as a clear and obvious error.

O'Neil said: "I was livid that they didn't think it was a clear and obvious error. I've just spoken to Jon Moss, fair play to him.
"He has apologised and said it was a blatant penalty and should have been given."
As a result of failing to award Wolves the spot-kick, the Premier League has not included Hooper, Sailsbury or Assistant VAR Richard West on their rota for this weekend's matches. They have all been left out of the weekend's plans as part of a crackdown from PGMOL chief Howard Webb.
