Guéla Doué (21) has been included in Emerse Faé’s Ivory Coast squad to face Benin and Uruguay.
The fullback for Stade Rennais has had a breakthrough season under midseason appointment Julien Stéphan and will look to be rewarded with his first call-up to the national side for the upcoming friendlies taking place in France.
The young talent has always been on the radar for the Ivory Coast having previously represented his nation in the under-19s and under-23s age brackets, but such has been his consistency and his quality since making the step up into the Rennes’ first team that Faé has fast-tracked his progress.
Doué will join up with a largely unchanged squad from the team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in February with only three players missing. Sébastien Haller, Christian Kouamé, and Serge Aurier are all absent from the cup-winning squad as they recover or are rested from injuries.
