Rennes predicted XI v Le Havre: Nemanja Matić set for first start
Rennes have the opportunity to go top of the league when they host promoted Ligue 1 side Le Havre this afternoon. Should Bruno Genesio’s side gain 7 points out of a possible nine, it would be their best start to a Ligue 1 campaign in four years. After an inspired cameo away at Lens (1-1), experienced midfielder Nemanja Matić (35), whose departure from AS Roma was certainly not to the liking of José Mourinho, is due to start for his first outing at the Roazhon Park.
Jérémy Doku’s club-record €65m sale to Manchester City means that Ludovic Blas is expected to fill in as the right-sided forward from now on. Meanwhile, Genesio will have to do without Warmed Omari against Le Havre. The centre-back sustained a hamstring injury at the end of the week. Christopher Wooh is therefore due to partner sought-after Belgium international Arthur Theate, whose departure looks increasingly unlikely.
