Rio Ferdinand criticised Arsenal's 'naivety' after letting their one-goal lead slip against Bayern Munich in Tuesday's Champions League clash.
Harry Kane's first-half penalty put the visitor's ahead after Serge Gnabry cancelled out Bukayo Saka's opening strike.
The England captain punished a mistake by Gunners defender William Saliba after he tripped Leroy Sane in the box and Ferdinand was critical of Arsenal's defending in allowing the former Man City star to break into the box.
Bayern's iconic goalkeeper Manuel Neuer kick-started the move with a piece of individual brilliance with the ball at his feet before Sane broke free and was hauled down inside the area.
Kane made no mistake as he rolled his spot-kick into the bottom corner and Ferdinand blamed Arsenal's chaotic defending for gifting the Bundesliga champions a chance.
'At that point, they were shattered. He's [Neuer] taken Mickey at Emirates flicking it up above his left foot, said Ferdinand on TNT Sports.
'Kiwior, you have to win your one-v-one battle. You can't allow that. And once he [Sane] gets beyond him here, it's all about Leroy Sane he's deceptive.
'He's moving and the Arsenal back four I think naivety plays a part the way they've let him run slides straight through the middle of that,' he added.
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown fumed over the amount of space Sane was allowed to run into and similarly criticised Jakub Kiwior before the young Arsenal defender was hauled off at half time.
'I mean, look this counter attacking play from Bayern. There's no way they should be getting through there.
'Kiwior you're right. He looks a bit shaky on that left hand side and then of course this man who just stood up he's taking the mickey really.
