Irish League legend Chris Morgan is taking his first dip into the world of management at Rosario as part of a four-man team installed to replace Crewe-bound Barry Baggley.
The one-time Linfield and Glentoran star has agreed to take over on an interim basis alongside Ciaran Dignam Michard Ward and Andy Morrow ahead of this weekend’s league game at home to Rosemount.
All four offer a sense of continuity to the embattled Roses as they look to kickstart a season which has seen them pick up just two wins from their opening 11 in the Premier Division.
Dignam has been in alongside Baggley as his first team coach for the last three-and-a-half years, Ward and Morrow are both club stalwarts and two big personalities in the changing room during Baggley’s almost seven-year tenure, while Morgan has been about the club for the last six or seven years, with the father-of-two managing his son’s under-15s side.
And for Morgan, a Gibson Cup winner with Linfield, Glentoran and Crusaders, providing some stability at the club is key as they look to protect the gains made under their predecessor, who transformed the club under his reign, guiding them up into the Premier Division with two promotions and registering their highest ever points tally in the Amateur League’s top flight.
"We’re all people who have been around the club for a while," Morgan told the Belfast Telegraph.
"So for us, it’s trying to get a level of consistency in terms of, there’s a big void with Barry going and we’re trying to minimise the damage of that.
