Scotland Women still have a slim chance of featuring at the Paris 2024 Olympics — but only if they lose their Women's Nations League clash against the Lionesses in December.
England have been designated as the representative nation for Team GB at next year's Olympics which means that only they can qualify on behalf of the Home Nations.
They must not only top their qualifying group, but then go on to win their semi-final match and possibly the final of the Women's Nations League in order to do so.
But topping their group is suddenly looking like a long shot for the Lionesses.
They currently sit third in their Women's Nations League group on 6 points after two wins over Scotland and Belgium and two defeats to the Netherlands and Belgium.
Nothing less than two wins from their remaining fixtures will keep England in with a chance of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
And one of those wins will have to be over Scotland who they face at Hampden Park on Tuesday 5 December.
A number of Scotland's key players will be looking to take up a spot on Team GB should they qualify for the Olympics.
Tottenham's Martha Thomas, Chelsea's Erin Cuthbert and Aston Villa's Rachel Corsie are among the Scotland players that Sarina Wiegman could look to include in her Team GB squad.
But if Scotland beat the Lionesses in December, then they will sabotage their own chances of making it to Paris.
France, Spain and Denmark comfortably top the other three groups at the moment meaning the Lionesses would likely face one of these three teams in a semi-final should they top their group.
The winner of the final will secure Olympic qualification — unless that winner is France, who have automatic qualification as the hosts.
