Sean Dyche said he had little doubt Dominic Calvert-Lewin would overcome any nerves to score from the penalty spot against Newcastle United.
The forward was under huge pressure as he sized up his spot kick with his side 1-0 down and his own five month goalless drought weighing on his mind.
Some of that pressure may have been diffused by James Tarkowski, who guarded the ball while referee Tony Harrington assessed his monitor before ruling Paul Dummett had hauled down Ashley Young. But the pressure would still have been intense before Calvert-Lewin dispatched another spot kick at a crucial point in an Everton season.

Martin Dubravka got a strong hand to the effort but could only divert it into the roof of his net as Everton capitalised on only their second penalty of the Premier League campaign - the first one they have scored.
Speaking after the game, Dyche made reference to Everton’s longstanding complaints of a season in which they can legitimately feel frustrated over key decisions that have not gone their way. They include another baffling call to wave away what looked like a foul in the box on Calvert-Lewin in the defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday.
Dyche said: “I fancied Dom to score. I was more nervous by the time it had taken to get a penalty. We didn’t get one Saturday and we were thinking ‘not again, surely?’ But once he was standing up there I fancied him to score and I am pleased he did.”
