Sheikh Jassim's next step after failing in his attempt to purchase Manchester United remains unclear, according to David Ornstein. The Qatar-based businessman wanted to complete control of the Red Devils but their offer of £5.5billion fell short of the Glazers' asking price.
The Glazers' stubbornness has resulted inBritish billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe becoming more likely to purchase a quarter of the club, a 25% stake to be exact, that will see him take over control of the playing side at Old Trafford.

And following news that Ratcliffe is edging closer to completing his takeover at Old Trafford, The Athletic's Ornstein has revealed all on Jassim's attempts to buy United. «I don't know the exact figures (Jassim bid). There's been some conjecture over it, but the most commonly reported figure was $8billion and the suggestion was that the Glazers would have wanted more like £7billion to sell,» he told Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.
«There has been some indications that, even up to the end of conversations with the Glazers or Raine Group, that the Qatari bid said, 'we'll go wherever it takes to get this done.' We haven't had confirmation of that. They didn't penetrate because it seems that it was the minority stake that the Glazers wanted, if this goes through, because that would keep them involved and benefiting from it.
