Romelu Lukaku is now set to reunite with Jose Mourinho in Italy's capital after securing a transfer away from Chelsea on a loan deal to Roma
Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has given his thoughts on Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku's imminent loan move to Serie A rivals AS Roma.
Now he's spent the past few months trying to force an exit from Stamford Bridge over the summer but has seen his options dramatically decrease in recent weeks after Juventus supporters protested their club's reported interest in him.
Having not spoken to current Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino since informing him he wants to leave over the summer, the Argentinian has been steadfast in his promise to try and offload Lukaku to a team that will actually get a use out of him.
It now seems all but confirmed that the 30-year-old will be heading to the Stadio Olimpico to try and help Roma improve on their poor start to the season which has seen them take just one point from their first two matches, leaving them in 13th.
But despite his poor reputation with his fans and his comments in the past about how he'd never go to another Italian club other than Inter, Inzaghi is pleased that Lukaku has managed to find a way back to Italy and thinks it'll be healthy for the country's football.
"[On Romelu] Lukaku, [it's a] very good signing and it's good news for AS Roma and Italian football," Inzaghi told DAZN in a pre-match press conference earlier this week.
"It's excellent news for Serie A to have top players like Lukaku. [But] I'm very happy with my own players, I'm so happy with them."
