Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana (21) is being courted by Ligue 1 sides Lille and Nice, according to a report this Saturday from L’Équipe. Six months after leaving Stade Rennais and the French top flight during last winter’s deadline day, the Ghana international may be returning to French football already. Last January, Sulemana was recruited by the Saints in a €25m deal as a last-gasp attempt to steer clear of a Championship relegation.
The Saints eventually finished bottom of the Premier League and fell down in the second tier. Sulemanana logged two goals and one assist in 18 Premier League games. The former Nordsjælland player is tied with the Saints on a contract set to expire in 2027. Given Southampton’s relegation in the Championship, it comes as no surprise that Sulemana wants out already. The French publication understands a return to Ligue 1 is on the cards with Lille and Nice showing “great interest” in the 18-times Ghana international.
