Cape Town Spurs need to move the ball quicker, sharper and cut on the mistakes if they to turn around the season, new coach Ernst Middendorp warned after they lost again on Saturday.
The veteran German coach, 65, took over at the bottom placed club a fortnight ago but his debut saw Spurs go down 2-1 at home to 14th placed Royal AM.
“I said before a little bit is missing in terms of the finer details. The decision making is not adequate for this level. There were other moments where with a bit more the concentration we can do it right,” he said of their 11th defeat in 12 games.
“We have to hammer it during the training session. We have to be more concentrated in the decisive moments. I’m not really surprised because in spite of being for some months in the league already some decisions were quite poor. It’s only my personal opinion. Sorry I mentioned it like this. Anyway, it was an was empty handed afternoon.”
But Middendorp felt there was something to work as he seeks to help the club save their status.
“There is potential, it is not about the technical side. I can turn that around but as I said before it’s the tactical side that needs work. Talent is only one part of being a good football player who can contribute to a good team performance. I think that adoption in terms of the PSL level is needed. It’s more intensive. The mistakes you're making on the defensive side in the NFD that don’t get punished, will get punished in the PSL.
