St George looks set to jump to top spot on the table unless they fail to beat Shashemene City in Saturday fixtures which includes Wolkite City v Hadiya Hossana.
The second match day of week 18 fixtures will be played at the Dire Dawa International Stadium.
Shashmene City have been in relegation waters all season and a shock result against St George will not only make headlines but give them a huge lift above their current 14th place.
They did manage some good results which took them up from 16th to 14th place now with 12 points, just one point away from the relegation zone.
However, they will enter this match after being defeated by their neighboring city club, Hawassa City.
St George received a boost to their aspirations with Mekelakeya 's victory over ong term table toppers, CBE, the Ethiopia Nigd Bank.
Both CBE and Mekelakeya are now on 36 points, with St George on 34 points coming into this game against Shashmene City.
Zerihun Shengeta's team has won three consecutive matches and has been undefeated in their last five matches.
In the other match of the day, Wolkite City will face Hadiya Hosanna.
Wolkite Kenema is striving to secure a win and climb out of the relegation zone. They are the second-worst team in the league in terms of wins, having lost 10 matches.
Hadiya Hosaena is extending their unbeaten streak, as they have not been defeated in their last 15 matches, having only lost the first two league matches. However, they have drawn 11 matches, the most in the league.
