Supercomputer Premier League title race prediction clear as Arsenal and Man City reach crunch stage

Arsenal are preparing to face Manchester United on Sunday as they look to keep the pressure on Manchester City in the title race.

The Gunners will drop down to second in the Premier League table if City beat Fulham at Craven Cottage in the early kick-off on Saturday. But Mikel Arteta's side will reclaim top spot with a first win at Old Trafford since November 2020.

Just a single point separates both teams with two games left of a gruelling campaign. And Arsenal have been given a slight boost in their hopes of winning a first top-flight title since 2004.

The Opta Supercomputer gave Arteta's team a 32.5 per cent chance of winning the title compared to City's 67.4 per cent before last weekend's matches. However, Arsenal's chances have risen slightly to 34.1 per cent after they beat Bournemouth 3-0.

Pep Guardiola's side though remain heavy favourites even if their percentage chance of a historic fourth consecutive Premier League crown has dropped to 65.9 per cent. City thrashed Wolves 5-1 last weekend.

When it was put to Arteta that his team may be able to deal with difficult moments better after last season's experience, he said: «If a year is enough to do that. For some teams it takes them five or 10 years to achieve it.
