A super agent behind Gareth Bale's blockbuster move from Tottenham to Real Madrid was left amazed by his first win at the Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday.
David Manasseh is a household name having helped make two of the biggest football transfers ever, Bale's move and Jack Grealish's switch to Manchester City. He's part the CAA Stellar sports agency alongside Jonathan Barnett.
Their client list has boasted a number of notable players, like Bale who moved from Spurs to Real Madrid for a huge £85million in 2013. They also look after stars like Grealish, Manchester United's Luke Shaw, Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
Manasseh is also a regular Cheltenham Festival attendee and even has his own special box there. He's had a few horses before, like MC Muldoon who came second at Royal Ascot, reports the Mirror.
But this time, his horse Ballyburn, which he owns with Ronnie Bartlett (whose daughter is married to the footballer Hal Robson-Kanu), did something special. Trained by Willie Mullins, Ballyburn had already won two races before coming to Cheltenham as the top favourite for the Gallaghers' Novices' Hurdle race.
With jockey Paul Townend, Ballyburn won the race by 13 lengths without any trouble. After the race, in the winners' circle, Manasseh, who is 55 years old, said: «I need to breathe. Jesus, it's been a long journey from the last five weeks to get here.
