Darwin Nunez has revealed he is optimistic of living up to the expectations that come with wearing the iconic number nine shirt at Liverpool.
It was announced earlier today that the Uruguayan would be ditching his previously worn number 27 to take the No.9 shirt recently occupied by Roberto Firmino.
Players to have sported the No.9 for Liverpool in years gone by have enjoyed varying degrees of success, from the highs of Fernando Torres and Robbie Fowler to the lows of Christian Benteke and Andy Carroll.
Nunez is not the only player to have recently made a change of this nature, with Luis Diaz making the most of James Milner's departure to claim the number seven shirt. Diaz had worn 23 on the back of his shirt prior to this, a number frequently associated with Reds legend Jamie Carragher.

Explaining his feelings after his kit switch was confirmed, Nunez said: "The truth is I'm really happy to wear the number nine. I'm really proud.
"Honestly, previously other players represented this number really well and now it's my turn to wear it. I hope that everything goes well. I hope I'm able to represent it in the best way just as previous players did. Hopefully this is for many years and that it brings a lot of joy too."
Supporters who have purchased 'Darwin 27' shirts in official club retail outlets, via the official LFC online store or LFC Store app are able to receive a like-for-like exchange provided a return is completed with proof of purchase by 11.59pm BST on Saturday August 19.
