Everton manager Sean Dyche has called for a collective ‘Spirit of the Blues’ in the wake of the club’s latest points deduction.
Having ended a club record 13-match run without victory in the Premier League by beating Dyche’s previous long-term employers Burnley 1-0 last time out, Everton return to action for the first time since they were handed their second sporting sanction this season in the wake of last Monday’s announcement they had been docked another two points following their second Profit and Sustainability charge.
The decision takes the Blues’ total deductions to eight this season after they were initially given a 10-point deduction in November – the most severe punishment in 135 years of English top flight football at the time – later reduced to six points on appeal.

Ahead of tonight’s trip to Stamford Bridge, Dyche was asked whether the latest decision might spark a similar positive reaction among the team.
