As Everton weekends go, this one is pretty big for Frankie Stringer.
First, his beloved Blues welcome Brentford to Goodison Park in a huge Premier League clash. Then, just hours later, he will make his way to the ring at the Exhibition Centre to fight Jonatas Rodrigo Gomes de Oliveira.
Lifelong Blue Stringer is no stranger to fighting on the same day as the club he loves; the last time he fought back in September, he did so just hours after Sean Dyche’s side were held to a 2-2 draw by Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

However, Stringer admits that when he does make his way to the ring on Saturday night, his friends who support the Blues could be in for a shock when they see the shorts he will be wearing.
“Absolutely, it would be great,” he tells the ECHO when asked if he was hoping for a double victory this weekend.
“Everyone is going to be hating me though because I have switched my shorts for this fight and went red and white.
“I didn’t think of it, but I am going to change my shorts for my fights all the time. But a few of my Everton mates won’t be happy when they see me walking out in red and white. Hopefully the Blues do the job.”
Stringer, who is a former Tri Nations gold medalist and national champion, made his professional debut back in March 2022, and he believes this weekend’s fight against Gomes de Oliveira is the perfect bout for him to continue his development.
