Mikel Arteta faced the press ahead of Arsenal’s game against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday to provide the latest information on team news. The Gunners were without seven senior players when they hammered West Ham 6-0 at the London Stadium.
Arteta lost Emile Smith Rowe in the lead-up to the game after the England international rolled his ankle. Meanwhile, both Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have been missing since the Liverpool game.
Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey remain long-term absentees. Although there has been hope that both are making their way back to the field soon.
“Some of them have been progressing better than others,” Arteta said when asked for the latest update. “We have a training session again today. Some of them they've done a few beats this week and I am positive that hopefully we will have a few back for tomorrow.” When asked if there were any completely ruled out for tomorrow he said, “At the moment no.”
However, he did provide a positive update on those out for a longer period and denied further issues “No, there’s not big setbacks on any of those injuries and Thomas Partey as well is progressing really well. I don’t want to say too much but he’s looking very good and he's on the field already.”
