Glentoran had the ball in the net three times at Mourneview Park, but still had to settle for a point from a 0-0 draw with Glenavon.
On top for large parts of the 90 minutes an offside flag in the first half ruled out a first-minute opener and as frustration grew at not turning their dominance into goals two further strikes were chalked off in a disappointing second-half for Warren Feeney’s men, who have now collected just six points from their last five games.
The draw did halt a run of successive defeats for Glenavon, but the points doesn’t help their push for a top six finish as they sit seven points adrift of Coleraine,
Unsurprisingly David Fisher, with three goals in his last three games, was the main threat for the Glens. He was involved in all of their major moments in what was a dominant opening period for the East Belfast men.
Indeed the Englishman had the ball in the net after just 45 seconds when he out-jumped goalkeeper Mark Byrne to head Patrick McClean’s delivery into the net only to be denied a dream start by an offside flag.

The same fate befell Fisher five minutes later when he pounced after Byrne palmed Daire O’Connor’s shot.
It almost started to develop into a Fisher v Glenavon contest, with the Glens striker popping up on the end of almost every attacking move inside the first 15 minutes.
After those earlier missed opportunities he looked set to go through one-on-one with Byrne after the ball was again sent forward by McClean, but a slight miss control allowed Sean Ward to rob him of possession.
