Chelsea owner Todd Boehly continues to be pleased with Mauricio Pochettino despite the Blues mixed start to the 2023/24 season. The Argentine is the third permanent head coach under Boehly's ownership after Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter were both sacked last season.
Start to life at Stamford Bridge hasn't started as he would have expected for Pochettino. Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to London rivals Brentford has left them in 11th place in the Premier League table.
The west Londoners have managed just three league wins from their first 10 games — two of them against recently promoted teams — while managing to take a point off Liverpool and Arsenal. Despite only being in November, any hopes of making a return to the Champions League seem far fetched.
Last season's 12th placed finish saw both Tuchel and Potter lose their jobs. However, despite spending millions in the summer to back Pochettino, the club ownership remains satisfied with the former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain head coach.
According to Simon Phillips, as per hisSi Phillips Talks Chelsea, the American businessman is pleased with Pochettino despite the indifferent results on the pitch.
The majority of Chelsea's summer signings were aged 22 or below, meaning the immediate requirement result isn't as pressing as last season under Tuchel. Injuries have also played a huge part in Pochettino's troubles with the likes of Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana and Reece James facing periods on the sidelines.
