The January transfer window is very much Ange Postecoglou's second opportunity to try and form Tottenham Hotspur into the club he wants it to be. Immediately stamping his mark on his playing squad in the summer with some standout pieces of transfer business, Spurs fans are hopeful that Postecoglou and the club can do the same come the end of the month.
January is a notoriously tricky month to do business in, though, and those wanting a number of notable signings and wholesale changes may be left a tad disappointed. Speaking ahead of last Sunday's Premier League encounter against Bournemouth, Postecoglou made is clear that «nothing magical is going to happen in the January window».
«We are where we are. The transfer window, nothing magical is going to happen in the January window,» he said. «What we need to do is just keep building.
»We've had one window with this team to change it around, to do things differently. The fact that we're in the position we are is a credit to the players.
«For all the challenges we’ve had, we just kept ploughing forward and that's what we'll do. We’ll see what we can do in January but ultimately it's about building a side that will get us to where we want to.»
In regards to Tottenham's January transfer plans, a new centre-back is the top priority for the club. Postecoglou has said a number of times when speaking to the media about the importance of moving early in the market and now it's down to Daniel Levy and Johan Lange to grant him his wish.
