Unai Emery will be looking forward to Aston Villa’s clash with Manchester United this weekend as he eyes Premier League history.
The Spaniard has his side competing for a place in the Champions League this season and they remain on the edge of the title race.
Villa welcome Man United to the West Midlands on Sunday after demolishing Sheffield United last weekend, winning 5-0 at Bramall Lane.
And not only would another win continue their incredible Premier League campaign so far, but it would mark a huge day for Emery.
The Villa boss has won both of his top-flight home games against United in his career.
He beat them 2-0 as Arsenal manager in 2019 and then 3-1 at Villa Park last season.
If he is to overcome the Red Devils again this weekend, he would become the first manager ever to do so in his first three home league games against them.
So Emery will be hoping to make history but his side will need to turn around their form to pick up three points.
Villa have only won one of their last three in front of their fans after winning 15 in a row beforehand.
United could well be playing them at the perfect time with Erik ten Hag’s men building some positive momentum by winning their last two.
And if their recent record is anything to go by, they won’t be leaving Villa Park empty-handed.
The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last 24 Premier League games in February, a streak that began six years ago back in 2018.
They have won 15 and drawn nine of their games in the month since losing to Newcastle under Jose Mourinho.
Ten Hag’s side have already beaten Wolves and West Ham and now Villa stand in their way.
Emery will be desperate to put an end to Villa’s home struggles and set a new top-flight record for himself in the process.
