Mikel Arteta is hopeful of welcoming back a number of Arsenal stars from injury for today's Premier League clash against Burnley. Despite a number of fitness blows in his squad emerging over the last few weeks, the Gunners have picked up six points and also scored nine goals from games against Liverpool and West Ham.
Surprisingly, Emile Smith Rowe and Takehiro Tomiyasu were both absent from last weekend's clash at the London Stadium with Jorginho an unused substitute as he continues to deal with a minor issue.Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus each suffered muscular issues in the week leading up to the Liverpool clash with it likely neither are back in contention for the trip to Turf Moor.
Elsewhere, Jurrien Timber remains as the only long-term absentee with returns appearing close for Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko and even Fabio Vieira, who last made an appearance in the reverse fixture against Burnley. With that in mind, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal injury news ahead of Saturday's match against the Clarets.
Vieira is still recovering from injury after having surgery. He participated in Arsenal's winter camp in Dubai and he could be back to face his former team Porto in the Champions League next week.
Injury: Groin.
What Arteta has said: «Very close [to returning]. He’s been training already for a few days with the team. He’s evolved probably faster than we expected and he’s in a good place.
»There is a chance yeah [he is available to face Porto on Wednesday, February 21.]"
Expected return date: Porto (A) Wednesday, February 21.
