Virgil van Dijk has been handed an extra one-match ban and given a £100,000 fine by the Football Association.
The Liverpool defender was charged with improper conduct by the Football Association following his red card against Newcastle.
This came as he argued his case to referee John Brook after being given a straight-red for the foul on Alexander Isak.
However 10-man Liverpool were able to fight back from a goal down to earn an unlikely 2-1 victory at St James' Park.
The Dutch star had already missed the Reds' 3-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend as part of a one-match suspension.
However he will now also sit out the trip to Wolves on Saturday, September 16.
A statement from the FA read: «The defender admitted that he acted in an improper manner and used abusive and insulting words towards a match official after being sent off in the 29th minute, and the sanctions were subsequently imposed by an independent regulatory commission.
»Full written reasons for this case will be published in due course."
