Although the east Belfast boys strolled to three points against an erratic Glenavon at the BetMcLean Oval, the former Northern Ireland international was far from satisfied.
The Glens had it wrapped up by half-time, courtesy of a double strike from Junior and a Paddy McClean effort, but that was as good as it got.
As the home crowd settled down for a second half goal avalanche, they were bitterly disappointed. In fact, it was Glenavon who had the final say with a stunning free kick by Jack Malone seconds from the end.
“We need to get into habits of killing teams off,” blasted Feeney. “We could have been out of sight in the first half, but we didn’t take our chances. We must improve our concentration levels.
“It’s always a nice position to be in (winning three-nil), but as I said to the boys, it’s all about standards and being ruthless.
“I love Man City . . . they don’t care who they play against, they go and beat teams out of sight, should it be Real Madrid or Oldham, with no disrespect to them. They don’t are and that’s the mould we’ve got to get into."
Junior opened his goal account on three minutes, hammering home a low drive following a clever short-corner kick routine involving Cammy Palmer and Jay Donnelly.
The former Derry City man struck again 10 minutes later. This time Glenavon goalkeeper Rory Brown saved from Bobby Burns, but when the ball was recycled to Palmer, his scuffed shot was tapped in by the alert Junior.
