TV presenter and avid Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has branded his side'’s 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion as the club’s best display this season and has backed the Gunners to go all the way.
A Bukayo Saka penalty and second-half goals from Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard saw Arsenal rise back to the top of the Premier League ahead of Liverpool’s visit to Manchester United on Sunday.
It is now three clean sheets on the bounce for Mikel Arteta, with just two goals conceded in their last eight Premier League matches, having netted 28 goals in that time. In fact, the last time Arsenal conceded more than two goals in a game was in the 2-0 FA Cup home defeat to Liverpool on January 4.
The last time they shipped more than a goal in a league game was during the 2-1 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage on New Year’s Eve. There is no doubt that Arsenal are a stronger outfit than last season, when they were accused of losing their nerve during the un-in.
Arteta last tasted defeat in the 1-0 Champions League last-16 first leg against Porto on February 21 with their last league loss coming in that clash with Fulham.
They have recorded two 5-0 and two 6-0 victories since then, but Morgan says none of those contained displays as astute as Saturday’s win over Brighton. Taking to X after the triumph, the journalist unpacked why he believes his team can go all the way.
