Arsenal could see their summer transfer plans heavily impacted by a huge Liverpool decision. The Premier League title race, that involves both Arsenal and Liverpool, is taking a back seat over the next two weeks with the March international break on the agenda and because of that a number of clubs will likely be finalising their transfer plans ahead of the 2024/25 season.
While sealing incomings and outgoings is the main aim for Arsenal, Liverpool must complete a major backroom overhaul with manager Jurgen Klopp already confirming his planned departure. Michael Edwards, who left the club in 2022, is set to return and rebuild the club's football operations in the absence of Klopp.
Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is the favourite to take charge at Anfield, with Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim and Julian Nagelsmann of Germany also among those linked. Alongside Klopp, it was also announced sporting director Jorg Schmadtke would be departing after just eight months in the role.
With another vacancy becoming available, Liverpool have yet another decision to make, however it looks as though that has now been made. Richard Hughes is set to be confirmed as Liverpool's new sporting director shortly, officially starting in May, after his departure from Bournemouth at the end of the 2023/24 season was confirmed in March.
Hughes brought the likes of Dominic Solanke and Nathan Ake to the Cherries, with the latter going on to join Manchester City. Solanke could be the next name set for a big move, despite having already been on the books of both Liverpool and Chelsea, with his impressive goal scoring form in this campaign seeing a number of clubs take interest.
