Florian Wirtz has admitted his future may not follow the same path as his coach Xabi Alonso, despite the Bayer Leverkusen pair both being linked with summer transfers to Liverpool.

Whilst closing in on the Bundesliga title, the Spaniard has been touted with either taking the soon-to-be vacant job at Anfield, or alternatively joining up with another former club of his in Bayern Munich.
Naturally his talented squad have also made names for themselves ahead of the upcoming transfer window - the prized asset being Wirtz. The 20-year-old versatile attacker has registered 11 goals and 17 assists in all competitions this season. Currently away from his usual setting and with his national team, the German has now reflected upon the situation where either himself, his coach, or both may not be around the BayArena beyond the summer.
“It is extremely important to me that I have such a good connection with him [Alonso]," he told Der Spiegel. "But of course we decide about our future independently of each other.
