Manchester United will be without captain Bruno Fernandes for their pivotal Premier League clash against Liverpool this weekend.
The Red Devils skipper has been one of the few players who has played well for the most part during a difficult season.
Fernandes is United's second top scorer in the Premier League this term with three goals, as many as Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Rasmus Hojlund combined.
The 29-year-old has also notched three assists and is the only outfield player to have started every top-flight game this term.
However, Fernandes will miss the trip to Anfield on Sunday despite playing the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.
The Portuguese is unavailable to face Jurgen Klopp's side due to serving a one-match domestic suspension.
Fernandes was shown his fifth Premier League yellow card of the season late on in their dismal 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth.
The former Sporting Lisbon star was booked for dissent with five minutes left of normal time and the Cherries already three up.
As a result, he is suspended for their next league fixture — which is away at Anfield against rivals Liverpool, who sit top of the league.
United lost the fixture 7-0 last season, with Fernandes in particular having one of his worst performances since he joined the club.
And the manner of how he ended up suspended for the reunion has since been called into question, with Fernandes being accused of getting himself cautioned on purpose.
Andy Gray asked Richard Keys if he thinks Fernandes knew that he would miss the trip to Liverpool and his co-host replied: «Yes.
