Willian could STAY at Fulham 'as the club prepare a new bid to keep the winger'

Willian could yet stay at Fulham after his successful return to west London at the start of last season after being handed an updated proposal by the Cottagers, according to reports.

The Brazilian winger was a valuable part of Marco Silva's squad last term, as the club fought their way to a sturdy 10th-place finish in the Premier League and a promising FA Cup run.

The 34-year-old's return to the Premier League in August 2022 came as somewhat of a surprise, after the played had vowed to see out the remainder of his career at his boyhood club Corinthians in Sao Paulo.

But after an abortive attempt at a homecoming saw his contract ended early by mutual consent, Willian returned to England in a bid to recapture the sparkling form he had shown during his seven-year stint at Chelsea.

The player made 30 appearances during his second run in the capital, but the club's bid to keep him another season appeared to have fallen flat last week, when Willian was believed to have rejected the contract extension offered to him by Fulham

But as per Brazil news outlet iG Esporte, Fulham are determined to hang on to one of the sharpest prongs in their attack, and have presented him with a new and improved deal.

Head coach Silva is thought to highly value the midfielder, and had included Willian in his plans for next season before his contract expired on June 30.

But the Portuguese manager will reportedly have to wait a little to find out whether he can call on his services during the 2023-24 campaign, as Willian considers the offer in more detail.

Whether at Fulham or elsewhere, Willian is keen to extend his stay in the Premier League.
