Xabi Alonso 'makes decision' over future as Liverpool and Bayern Munich watch on
Liverpool have been given a big boost in the chase for Xabi Alonso, with the Bayer Leverkusen boss reportedly preferring a return to Anfield over taking Thomas Tuchel's place at Bayern Munich.
Both teams are thought to be keen to sign the Spanish manager, but it seems like the Reds are leading the race to get their former midfielder.

Ruben Amorim from Sporting and Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi have both been linked with replacing Klopp in Merseyside, along with Germany's national team manager Julian Nagelsmann.
However, Alonso is the current frontrunner for the role of Liverpool manager. The Reds are said to have been impressed by how he's transformed Bayer Leverkusen and led his team to the top of the Bundesliga without losing a single game in 21 league matches.
Bayern Munich are also interested in their former player, with Tuchel not winning over his team or the bosses at the Allianz Arena. The German giants look set to compete with Liverpool for Alonso at the end of the season, although the Premier League side currently has the upper hand.
Foot Mercato reports that the 42-year-old prefers to join Liverpool over Bayern right now, but he knows both clubs are interested. Liverpool's need for a new manager, due to Klopp's early announcement, is seen as an advantage because Tuchel could still turn things around at Bayern.
